Missing You (A poem for my mother)

Today, an angel left our world and entered into heaven.

Unlike any other here on earth, you will stand out behind the pearly gates.

Your beauty will illuminate the heavens, your smile brighten the sky.

Your voice will be the song of the wind through the trees.

Throughout your life, you loved your family like none other.

You taught your children to love as you loved, give as you gave.

Your lessons will stay with us for an eternity.

Lessons not only of love but of life.

How you raised us, taught us how to raise our own.

How you love us taught us how to love our own.

Your love for our father, taught us how to love our own spouses.

We will love you now and forever.

So, dear Mother, with this sad note, we say not goodbye.

We will see you again one day.

On that day, we will cross the bridge and through the gates

Into your loving arms we will rush.

Mama, we love you, but miss you we will not.

You are in our hearts and thoughts every day.
